News from partners

After a few months of consultation with local governments and local government associations and their development partners in Benin, Burundi, Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, and Nicaragua, VNG International and its partners will now start the Local Government Capacity Programme (LGCP 2012-2016).

The programme activities are targeted towards developing the capacity of local governments and local government associations, to enable them to contribute to sustainable local economic development, food security, water management, security and justice and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The capacity will be improved through the exchange of experience, for example via benchmarking, training, study visits, coaching and mentoring, and exposure to the practice of the local government sector (local governments, provinces, district water boards, and all their umbrella organisations), and other specialised organisations (housing corporations, welfare institutions).
