See you in Dakar !From 4 to 8 December, the Africities summit organised by UCLGA, the African section of UCLG, will welcome in Dakar many elected representatives from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe, as well as ministers and representatives of international organisations and civil society organisations.
This summit, at its sixth edition this year, will give African representatives the opportunity to propose their own development agenda through the theme “Building Africa from the territories”, which aims to put diversity at the heart of the continent’s development.
The summit is organised in three parts: the thematic sessions around the main theme will lead to proposals in view of political sessions; special sessions organised at the demand of institutions or networks; political meetings between the local elected representatives, but also with ministers and international donors.
The main event of the summit will certainly be the meeting of ministers members of AMCOD, the Africa Ministerial Conference on Decentralisation and Local Development, which should mark the adoption of the African Charter on local governance and an exchange of views on the creation of a High Council of local authorities at the African Union.

Taking advantage of this exceptional event, PLATFORMA organises in Dakar the second to last consultation session in view of the future Communication on local authorities in development on 4 December, from 14h30 to 17h00, at the King Fahd Palace hotel, in the Flamboyant room.
