Decentralised cooperation on climate issues – bring the spotlight on your initiatives

Local and regional governments (LRGs), through the policies they implement and their cooperation practices, are key actors in the fight against climate change.

A future universal climate agreement will be at the centre of the discussions of the COP21 held on December 2015 in Paris (France). In the light of this crucial conference, many local and regional initiatives are expected to bring about a roadmap to highlight the contributions of local and regional governments in climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The purpose of this call is to provide PLATFORMA with best practice examples of decentralised cooperation on climate issues. LRGs, as well as their associations working on these topics can send examples of their actions and results obtained to the PLATFORMA Secretariat with "Cooperation on Climate Change" as the e-mail subject line.

Among other activities, PLATFORMA is participating in the World Summit of Climate and Territories, an initiative put forth by the Rhone-Alpes Region, taking place on the 1st and 2nd of July 2015.  Decentralised cooperation on climate issues will be discussed in the context of a workshop titled “Partnership between territories” organised by PLATFORMA, in collaboration with AFCCRE, Cités Unies France, ENDA Energie and the Council of European Municipalities and Regions.

PLATFORMA will also participate in the “Summit of Local Governments for Climate” organised by the City of Paris, held on December 2015.
