Apply for the City of Bogotá Peace Prize!UN Blue Helmets are not the only actors engaged in conflict resolution. Local and regional governments also find themselves very often in the frontline of peacebuilding efforts.
With the objective of recognizing their role, on Thursday 19 November, the city of Bogotá in Colombia presented the first edition of the UCLG City of Bogotá Peace Prize.
The Prize is a triennial award for local governments active in conflict prevention, conflict resolution or peace building, with projects having a proved positive impact. The prize aims to contribute to the full acknowledgement of their important but often overlooked role as peace building actors.
The award ceremony will take place during the UCLG world congress in Bogotá from 12 to 15 October 2016. The winning local government will be awarded a modest prize package worth €20.000, aimed to strengthen its peace projects and facilitate learning and exchange with other local governments facing similar challenges.
Local governments can from now on apply for the prize through the website: peaceprize.uclg.org
