How can local and regional authorities act effectively in development cooperation?
Brussels, Belgium
The seminar was held in the Committee of the Regions' premises, in March 2009. The diversity of the local and regional European and international participants was reinforced by the active participation of representatives from the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Committee of the Regions and the European NGO Confederation, CONCORD.
During this first European seminar, members of PLATFORMA brought to the table the vision of local and regional authorities on a subject at the heart of international cooperation: water and sanitation. They have linked decentralised cooperation with the fight against poverty and the agendas of the Milennium Development Goals and also in relation to aid effectiveness.
