The overarching post-2015 agenda – positive council conclusions for local and regional governments!

The Communication “A decent for all” published in February came as a disappointment for that it did not acknowledge what and how local and regional governments (LRGs) could input the discussions on the post-2015 development agenda and contribute to the implementation of the framework. The Council rectified this “unfortunate overlook” and reiterated its commitment to work with all the partners, including LRGs, to define the post-2015 development framework. Besides Member States stressed the necessity to take actions at all levels in order to address the challenges of eradicating poverty (and inequalities within and among countries) and achieve sustainable development. Back in May, in a letter to the Irish Presidency, PLATFORMA had shared specific recommendations with regards to the involvement of local and regional governments in the post-2015 development framework (see newsletter 21, May 2013).
