Calm before the storm

If the past month has been marked at the institutional level by the Parliament’s adoption of the resolution on the financing for development, and by the Council’s conclusion on the new Global Partnership for the post-2015, sharpening the EU position for the Conference in Addis Abbaba, May has been relatively calm compared to the week ahead in Brussels. Thousands of people are currently converging on the European capital to celebrate the Assises of Decentralised Cooperation, the European Development Days and the Forum of Mayors of Latin America and the EU. If the quality of the debates level up the carbon footprint of the events, and if, at the end of the week, our beliefs are strengthened and our ideas enriched, it will already be a huge success. Regardless of the outcome, it is now more than ever the opportunity for local and regional elected representatives to be mobilized on gender issues, urbanization, governance, energy, education or climate and they are ready to defend their legitimacy and their action in all these areas. PLATFORMA will take part in many debates, and will keep on getting involved in June on many topics such as climate issues, with the preparation of the World Summit on Climate and Territories in Lyon and the European Neighbourhood Policy with an event in Riga; hoping that you continue to follow and support us!
