The urban community of Lyon was created in 1966. Centred at the heart of the Rhone-Alpes region, it gathers 59 communes and a population of 1.3 million, and is the second largest agglomeration in France. As a crossroads between both the north and the south of Europe, the dynamics of the lyonnaise agglomeration are expressed every day.
Lyon is dedicated to many networks of local authorities and supports an exchange of experiences to guarantee the role of cities as driving forces in the global framework. Through its commitment to the creation of international partnerships, Grand Lyon supports the visibility and internationality of its territory as well as its influence in the European and international scene.
