RGRE
German association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions
The RGRE is the German section of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, the association that groups together various local government associations at a federal level (the German Association of Cities and Towns, the German Association of Towns and Municipalities and the German Association of Counties).The RGRE is a union of about 830 German municipalities, cities and districts and is hosted at the Association of Cities and Towns (Deutscher Städtetag) in Cologne.
More than 500 municipalities in Germany maintain relationships with cities in Asia, Africa and Latin America by establishing partnerships or even by becoming part of a comprehensive North-South city network. Many municipalities carry out international development policies and cooperate with federal agencies, engage in fair trade and provide humanitarian aid or support for fundraising activities.
