Romanain Association of Municipalites

The Romanian Municipalities Association (AMR) is a private law, non-profit-making, non-governmental and apolitical legal entity, set up in 1990 in order to promote and protect the interests of its members towards the Romanian Government and the Romanian Parliament, national and international organisations. AMR has 109 members; 103 municipalities and the six districts of Bucharest municipality. AMR’s mission is fourfold: - to represent its members’ interests at national and international level ; - to support their initiatives and activities ; - to provide them with professional services and, - to support their efforts in the integration process to the European Union. AMR undertakes to achieve effective local self-government, in accordance with the principles set out in the Romanian Constitution and in the European Charter of Local Self-Government, for the citizen’s benefit, by ensuring their participation in the local decision making process.
