Second national meeting on “Twinning and partnerships”In a context of rising euro-scepticism and populism, the French Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (AFCCRE) organises the second national meeting on “Twinning and partnerships” in Montpellier on 14 and 15 June. The objective will be to reaffirm the existence of Europe as a space for exchanges, for dialogue and sharing, by putting forward the different European initiatives of local governments and by reflecting upon their evolution and modernisation.
Organised in the framework of the European year of citizens, this meeting will have a workshop dedicated to Development and International Solidarity Education (DISE) in order to show the importance for local governments to associate their citizens to their development cooperation policies, while the idea of the creation of a European policy in this domain was raised by the European Parliament on 5 July 2012.
