Initiative worth following

The last seminars of ARIAL took place in four regions of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific in June and July 2013. These seminars were to share and discuss LGA good practices. The main topics were: ‘identifying and responding to development needs of members’, ‘building a stronger LGA’, ‘elaborating a stronger lobby and communication strategy’, and ‘creating a service delivery strategy’. The good practices not only have been discussed, but have also been brought together in a document ‘Good Practice Case Studies’ which can be found on the ARIAL programme website (arial-programme.eu). At these last seminars, several LGA’s expressed the need for a follow-up similar to ARIAL. As a result many LGA representatives have sent support letters to those with influence over EU aid spending for local governments for a realization of this follow-up.
