The CIUDAD (Cooperation in Urban development and Dialogue) programme is quickly approaching its end. Throughout the programme, the CIUDAD Supporting Mechanism has worked together with 20 decentralised cooperation projects to make the programme a success. As a result of these joint efforts, a final conference will be held in Istanbul on 13-14 Novemberto present and discuss the results of the projects and to celebrate the achievements of the CIUDAD programme. Also the final publication and video will be officially presented, capturing the CIUDAD experiences of its 20 decentralised cooperation projects carried out between 2010 and 2013.

CIUDAD has been a programme for local authorities of the neighbourhood region coming to terms with issues that European towns and cities have also faced, so that lessons learnt and experience could be shared through peer-to-peer learning at the local level. The programme successfully mobilised 170 actors in 16 countries of the EU Neighbourhood region, in a geographically and thematically diverse environment. The CIUDAD Supporting Mechanism has been implemented by VNG International in collaboration with GIZ International Services, Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), and JCP SRL.

The final event will be organised back-to-back with another important EU-supported event, the High-Level Forum “The Covenant of Mayors - A vector of change for the European Neighbourhood region and Central Asia”.
