VNG International and the Directorate for Strategy Development (DSD) of the Turkish Ministry of Interior are carrying out a project on “Technical Assistance for Strengthening of Local Investment Planning Capacity with the Participation of Local Actors”.

The project, designed in the context of a modernisation of public administration, aims to further improve the capacity of the local public administration in the fields of local investment planning and sound coordination among stakeholders. Likewise, it will be broken down into two components; one will focus on the institutional capacity building of local investment actors and another on the strengthening coordination mechanisms for participatory investment planning.

The project, funded by the European Commission, has an implementation period of 24 months and will be executed in 3 Turkish provinces, as well as in Ankara. It not only envisages a bottom-up approach, but also seeks to put into place a methodology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of planning and programming of public investments at the local level in Turkey.

Through such a project, Turkish local governments will be further capacitated to transfer these skills and know-hows in future development cooperation projects with other local stakeholders in partner countries.
