Initiative worth following

The Fund for Cooperation in the Mediterranean (AL-MED Fund) was created in order to allow the association to consolidate its activities in the Mediterranean and to support the ongoing democratic movements in the southern and eastern EU neighboring countries. The projects developed will allow the network to react quickly and efficiently to the changing situation in the Mediterranean and to begin consolidating its relationships with the local actors.

The members of Arco Latino will provide technical assistance in order to strengthen local governments and will bring a methodological support in the definition of public policies. Local impact is expected to manifest in domains such as institutional reinforcement, decentralisation, local economic development and employment promotion, social and participatory democracy, as well as the fight against climate change.

 
A first proposal for concrete action to the District of Sousse (Tunisia) is now being prepared. The objective of the initiative is to work for better coordination between the local government and the economic actors in Sousse for the implementation of a territorial economic development plan which would be more adapted to the specific characteristics and resources of the territory.
