Regions and Development in a new global framework

The conference entitled ‘‘Regions and Development: the role of the Regions in a new global framework’’ was co-organised with CPMR and hosted by the Region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur in May 2009. This event gathered numerous representatives from regions and cities of Europe, Morocco, Senegal and Zimbabwe as well as representatives from the European Commission, EU member States and UNDP.

 

The debates underlined the experience of regions, most notably those in Wales, Andalusia and the Pays de la Loire who coordinate and/or facilitate the exchange of information with partners in developing countries and actions conducted by actors in their regions.

 

The participants also discussed the need for a methodology and more tools in order to frame the territorial approach and enhance aid effectiveness.
